“Caspian-2022” exercise was held on August 10, 2022 in the northern part of the Caspian Sea

The "Caspian-2022” exercise, supporting the implementation of the Aktau Protocol to the Tehran Convention and organized by the Russian Federation, was held on August 10, 2022 in the northern part of the Caspian Sea. One of the objectives of the exercise was to practice the elimination of the consequences of a marine accident and an oil spill. 

On August 10, 2022, an international exercise on the elimination of the consequences of a marine accident and an oil spill in the northern part of the Caspian Sea “Caspian – 2022” was held in the Caspian Sea. One of the stages of the exercise included the practice on the elimination of a spill of petroleum products from an emergency vessel. 

At the first stage of the exercise, according to the scenario, two vessels ‒ a bulk carrier and a tanker, collided in the northern part of the Caspian Sea in conditions of limited visibility and strong winds. The participants worked out the algorithm of actions for rescuing people and ships in distress at sea, checked communication systems and interaction in emergency situations. The second stage of the exercise was devoted to the elimination of an emergency spill of petroleum products and took place in the area of a conditional accident of two vessels.
